Recognized as a student-centered leader in education and embraced by a supportive community, the McAllen Independent School District, its students and staff have consistently produced an impressive list of academic honors, including 16 National Merit Scholar Finalists in the past six years, 150 IB Scholars over the past six years, 225 National Advanced Placement Scholars over the last five years, 312 Campus Gold Performance Awards over the last 4 years, and 14 Regional Teachers of the Year, 3 State Finalists, and 2 State Winners in 17 years. The McAllen Community is extremely proud of its award winning K-12 schools.
McAllen ISD has 21 elementary schools, seven middle schools, five high schools, an alternative educational campus, and almost 25,000 students. The district is vigorously supported by its community through the opening of six new schools since 2005.
