McAllen ISD is honored to have received three different awards from United Way of South Texas. On March 2, 2023, McAllen ISD received the Golden Apple Award as the top-giving school district. This is the fifth straight year McAllen ISD has earned this award.
In addition, McAllen ISD's Gonzalez Elementary earned an award as the Highest Per Capita Campus for the fourth time and the McAllen ISD Administration Office won as the Highest Per Capita school department. There are 17 school districts that provide to United Way of South Texas.
"It's a testament to the heart of our district so, on behalf of our Administration and our School Board, I want to congratulate the entire team," McAllen ISD Superintendent Dr. J.A. Gonzalez said. "I want to let the entire community know that McAllen ISD has its heart in the right place and this is just another example of that."
