Travis Treadway My name is Travis Treadway. I come from central West Virginia, from a small town called Webster Springs. Growing up in W.V. was an experience in both extremely beautiful mountains and valleys, and growing up poor. I have been fascinated by technology and found that I had a knack for understanding computers and technology. I moved to McAllen in 2007. A few years later, I began to go to South Texas College and earned my Bachelors in Computer and Information Systems in 2014. That was also the year that I landed my first job here in McAllen ISD as a paraprofessional. My first job as a paraprofessional was with Alonzo DeLeon Middle School. It was a very different professional experience and environment from my previous experiences with the service industry. I worked in the computer labs, both helping students and teachers with their technical issues. I found myself going beyond simply fixing computer issues and trying to teach others how computers work and how to avoid similar problems in the future. I eventually came to realize that I needed to do more than what I was doing. It got to the point where most of my friends and family were telling me to become a teacher. In early 2019 I completed my certification and joined DeLeon in the 2019-2020 school year as a full-fledged teacher. I love to teach. I am always learning and growing my talent and experience each year. Knowing that the students have learned more about the technology that affects their everyday lives is a joy. Learning that they have been using those skills is the best way to know that their lives have been positively impacted by their time in my classroom.
