Response To Intervention (RtI)
What is RtI?
"Response to Intervention" (RtI) is a process that refers to how well students respond to research-based instruction. The purpose of the program is to provide a safety net for at-risk readers, some of whom have learning disabilities.
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi-tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs.
The RtI process begins with high-quality instruction and universal screening of all children in the general education classroom.
Struggling learners are provided with interventions at increasing levels of intensity to accelerate their rate of learning.
Progress is closely monitored to assess both the learning rate and level of performance of individual students.
How is an RtI referral done?
Contact the campus RtI coordinator and set a conference to discuss the student’s concern, data, and needed intervention(s).
The campus RtI committee reviews the student’s file to determine eligibility and the campus RtI coordinator reports the decision to the referring person.
