First steps:

Student is evaluated by their home district for:   

  • Full Individual Evaluation   

  • Audiological Evaluation   

  • Otological Evaluation 

  • Communication Assessment

Student's District should consider the individual needs of the student and determine other evaluations not listed above.

Our RDSPD Program Serves Students:

  • From birth to 22 years of age

  • With a hearing loss that significantly impacts the development of language and/or performance in school.

  • From surrounding school districts in South Texas, including: Donna, Edcouch-Elsa, Edinburg, Excellence in Leadership, Hidalgo, IDEA, La Joya, La Villa, McAllen, Mercedes, Mission, Monte Alto, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, Premier, Progresso, Rio Grande City, Roma, San Isidro, Santa Maria, Sharyland, Valley View, Vanguard, and Weslaco .

Services May Include:

  • Parent-Infant Program (PIP) that provides in-home training and support for parents of young deaf children from birth until three years of age.

  • PPCD program that specializes in teaching students with a hearing loss from 3-5 years of age.

  • RDSPD program providing services for children with a hearing loss from Elementary to High School.

  • Itinerant Services for children in their home district.

  • Sign language classes offered to parents, staff, and community at no cost.

  • Training for local districts

  • Some audiological services are provided through contracts with a local licensed audiologist.

  • Transportation is provided by student's school districts.

  • Other agencies as needed
