Sofia Peña

Sofia Peña has spent her adult life in service of others and hopes to continue that service as McAllen ISD School Board of Trustee. A Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice-Police Administration.  She comes from a family of public service (education, law enforcement, fire service and emergency management) and proud to continue that legacy.  Instrumental in the development of the Early College High School program in our region with South Texas College and continues to be an advocate for dual credit and college for all.  A staunch advocate for the disability community.  Provides experienced perspective on the school board and promises to be prepared and make decisions that are honest, fair, and the greater good of the McAllen ISD community.

Education

Mrs. Peña is a Doctoral Candidate in Educational Leadership, holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice-Police Administration. Her field of expertise is in Early College High Schools and Dual Credit. Sofia spent over 17 years in education.
