Teachers from each of McAllen ISD's campuses were honored at the 29th annual Teacher of the Year Celebration held May 7, 2024. Congratulations to Sandra Villarreal, of Perez Elementary, who was named 2024 District Elementary Teacher of the Year and to Erick Morin, of the Instruction and Guidance Center, who became the 2024 District Secondary Teacher of the Year. The district also recognized Campus Teachers of the Year (one from each of 30 campuses) and two Technology Teachers of the Year (one for elementary schools and one for secondary schools). May 6-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Ms. Villarreal and Mr. Morin will now represent McAllen ISD in the Regional Teacher of the Year running which will be announced on August 1, 2024. McAllen ISD teachers have earned 21 Regional or State Teacher of the Year titles in the past 33 years -- the most in the South Texas region.
