The City of McAllen announced the McAllen SHINES initiative on July 11, 2024. Through various programs, events & partnerships, the program aims to foster a sense of common responsibility and pride among all residents, encouraging everyone to do the right thing and contribute to the well-being of McAllen.
The City has already deputized students in elementary grade levels, teaching them about recycling and the importance of keeping their schools, homes and everywhere in between as clean as possible. By working together, the community can make it happen and make McAllen Shine!
