OPEN HOUSE

On March 6th, Milam Elementary from McAllen ISD, warmly welcomed families for its annual open house; a key event held during Texas Public Schools Week.

Our Principal, Ms. Hernandez, set the stage for a collaborative evening, emphasizing the school’s commitment to partnership between home and school. Teachers, the heart of the educational experience, took the lead, transforming their individual classrooms into vibrant showcases of learning. Each teacher meticulously prepared their space, displaying student work, outlining curriculum goals, and demonstrating the innovative teaching strategies they employ daily. They engaged parents in meaningful conversations, answering questions and providing insights into their children's progress.

The energy throughout Milam Elementary was palpable as students proudly acted as eager guides, sharing their classrooms and work with their families. The halls resonated with excited chatter as children pointed out favorite projects and explained what they have been working on. This heartwarming event offered parents a firsthand look into the dynamic learning environment that Ms. Hernandez and her dedicated staff have created.

The Open House left a lasting impression on students, who were eager to share their experiences with both classmates and teachers. Nicholas S. from Miss Rosales’ class shared with excitement, “My sister and mom were happy to meet my teacher, and I got to show them all my work.” Hailey F. from Miss Bond’s class beamed with a bright smile, saying, “I was so happy to show my mommy my journals. She really enjoyed them.” Audrey R. from Mrs. Escobrar’s class was thrilled that her mom was impressed by all the work she had done, smiling as she said, “My mom was so proud of me.”

The strong sense of community at Milam is evident, with events like Open House highlighting the collective commitment to student success and the essential role teachers play in shaping young minds.
